Located southwest of Mahanadi, Bhubaneswar is the capital of Orissa. name �Bhubaneswar� in Sanskrit means �God�s world.� Bhubaneswar became the capital of Orissa in 1948 after independence of India. The city also served as the capital of ancient Kalinga. Today is the commercial hub of Orissa.
