Faridabad Tour

Faridabad is an industrial town of Haryana located in 28 deg 25' 16" North Latitude and 77 deg 18' 28" East Longitude. The city is situated in between National capital Region of Delhi to the north; district Palwal on the south, Gurgaon to the west and Uttar Pradesh in the east.

History of Faridabad

In A.D. 1607 Faridabad was founded by Shaikh Farid who was the treasurer during the reign of Jahangir. The whole city is planned in semi-circle. The industrial area lies in the outskirts of the town. Shaikh Farid also built number of monuments includes the fort, mosque, tank etc.

The well organized town was planned with an aim of protecting the Delhi-Mathura Highway passing through it. Though it is a commercial place yet some of the attractions for tourists are very much there.

Tourist attractions in Faridabad

Faridabad has some places to see for visitors inspite of not being visited much for the purpose of tourism.

Nahar Singh Stadium

The nineteen year old Nahar Singh Stadium is a venue for one day International (ODI) cricket matches. The ground has a capacity to hold around 25,000 people. The stadium has the best facilities for cricket. Till date India has played five matches here. The stadium also houses a sports complex with state of art facilities for the sports like swimming, football etc.

Badhkal Lake

The lake in nearby Bedakhal village has a man-made embankment known as Badhkal Lake was once a must visit for visitors. The lake is surrounded by Aravalli hills. Annual flower show is held in every spring here. The lake has now dried and is a grazing ground for cattle and also a place for locals to play cricket.

Not too far from Badhkal Lake is the Peacock Lake. It is a picturesque destination.

Baba Farid's Tomb

The tomb of an eminent Sufi saint Baba Farid is popular pilgrim center for localiites. It is believed that Baba founded Faridabad and hence named after him.

Suraj Kund Tourist Complex and the Crafts Fair

Suraj Kund Tourist Complex near South Delhi is an idyllic picnic spot. The Suraj Kund Lake was built by Rajput King Surajpal Tomar. The lake is surrounded by rock cut steps, relics of Sun temple lie, beautiful fresh water pool 'Rajhans' - Siddha Kund whose water is said to have some therapeutic properties and a garden.

The lakeside hosts an annual handloom and handicrafts fair in February. Surajkund Crafts Mela is very popular among handicrafts lovers of across the boundaries. Skilled artisans from all over the country come here to showcase the rich craftsmanship in the backdrop of typical rural Indian market. Food and Cultural programmes are the main attractions of this colourful fair. One can buy traditional Indian crafts directly from the craftsmen.

Siddhadata Temple complex, Shiva temple, Town Park and Aravali Golf Club are the other places to see in Faridabad.

Shopping in Faridabad

Faridabad is famous for Heena Production and also many industrial or mechanized products like tractors, motorcycles, switch gears, refrigerators and tyres are produced here.

Mall culture is fast conquering cities whether small or big. The town also has couple of big shopping malls like Crown Plaza, SRS Mall, Pristine Mall, Crown Interiorz, Parsvnath City mall, Parsvnath Mall Manhattan, Destination Point, Eldeco Station 1, SRS Shubham.
