Bikaner is a district of northwest Rajasthan. Located 330 kilometers NW to Jaipur. It was founded by Rao Bika in 1488 as the capital of princely state of Bikaner and the flag of princely Bikaner was yellow and red in color. Now its district headquarters of Bikaner division. It is fourth largest city of Rajasthan. The city is very famous for its sweets and snacks or we say Bikaneri namkeens. Bikaner is in the middle of the Thar Desert and in summers the temperature even exceeds 50 degrees and in winters it goes down to the freezing points. There is a very little rain fall as it falls in desert area

Bikaner is connected with major cities of country through national highways 11, 15, 89 and broad gauge railways. It has an airport, which is 17km from city at Nal although not fully functional, but soon city might have a passenger airport. Bikaner is directly linked with Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Haridwar, Jodhpur, Ahemdabad, Ambala, Ludhiana, Bhatinda and many other cities. Similarly with rail its linked with Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, Baroda, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jammu, Jaipur, Guwahati, Surat, Tiruvananthpuram, Ahemdabad, etc. The internal transport of Bikaner depends on city buses, auto rickshaws and personal vehicles.

Bikaner has its own architectural beauty. The forts and temples in this desert region hold your heart with their majestic architecture and the beauty. If you are planning a visit to Bikaner you are going to visit Junagarh Fort which was built by Raja Rai Singh who held a high rank in court of Mughal emperor Akbar and his travelling made him a good known of architecture which reflects in Junagarh Fort. Another attraction of Bikaner is Laxmi Niwas palace a grand residential palace of the king of former Bikaner state, which is now a luxury hotel owned by golden triangle Fort and palace pvt. Ltd. Next is Lalgarh palace which was commissioned by Rao Ganga Sigh in memory of his father Maharaja Lal Singh. Except these palaces the temples of Moolnayakji, Laxminath, bhandasar, konayat, karni mata, shiv bari are the other attractions in Bikaner.

Mainly Bikaner is famous for NRCC, which is camel research work, its wood production, it's famous Pata culture (the wood made square size tables placed in streets where people sit at theist leisure), its Bikaneri bhujia and sweets. Bikaneri bhujia is a spicy snack made of moth dal edible oil and spices. Bikaner is also known for having Asia's largest camel farm, its palaces, leather articles and handicrafts.
