Ghaziabad Tour

The historical city Ghaziabad is gateway to Uttar Pradesh, hence is popular as Gateway of UP. The town shares it's boundary with Delhi. The town is hub of industries as well as an emerging hub for education of NCR.

Ghaziabad holds mythological importance too. Garhmukteshwar in the city is believed to grant salvation to the people. Historical importance of Ghaziabad is gauged by the association of Pooth village with the Mahabharat period and the belief of nearby Ahar region to the capital of Pandavas.

Ajrara

Ajara is located on the bank of Kali Nadi. The name of this historical village 'Ajrara' came from the name of a Yogi, Ajaipal who built a thakurdwara (temple) here and called it Ajaipara.

Bahadurgarh

This village is 78 Kms away from Ghaziabad on Garhmukteshwar-Bulandshahr road. The town was a gift by Jahangir to Nawab Bahadur Khan, who changed its name from Garh Nana to Bahadurgarh. The place is famous for its Khurja pottery and handloom cloth.

Dasna

Dasna is the headquarters of the pargana situated on Hapur road, 10 kms from Ghaziabad. There an interesting legend behind naming this town Dasna.

Once when a Rajput King, Salarsi had gone to bathe in the Ganga to heal his leprosy liked the place and settled down here. He erected a large fort there. While digging the foundation, it is said that a man was bitten by a snake. This incident which is called Dasna in hindi lent the name Dasna to the village. Dhaulana

The village was named after his founder Dhaul Singh. The town managed to fit itself into scene of freedom struggle of 1857. Villagers erected a memorial in honour of martyrs in 1957.

The temple of Sati Malindi Devi and the annual fair there is yet another attraction.

Faridnagar

Faridnagar was founded in the times of Akbar by Nawab Farid-ud-din Khan and was called Faridnagar after him.

Hapur

Hapur is the largest tehsil of the district Ghaziabad. The head of clan Dor, Haradatta found the place in 983 AD and was earlier named Haripur after him.

Hapur is well known as the market for grain, jaggery and papar. Brass utensils and locally manufactured handloom cloth are very popular. During the reign of Aurangzeb a mosque- Jama Masjid was built in 1670 and is the main attraction to visitors.

Jalalabad

During the rule of Akbar another town named Jalalabad came up. It was said to be founded by Jalal-ud-din.

Loni

Loni is another headquarters of the pargana, in the north-west of Ghaziabad.

The good olden days associates the name of the town with the demon 'Lanvanasur', who is said to have once ruled Loni. Another verdict associates it with the king Lonnkaran.

Modinagar

Modinagar on the Delhi-Mussoorie National Highway (NH-58) is comparatively a newly established town. The parish had been founded by Gujar Mal Modi. Modinagar has been gradually developed as an industrial town. Many items of day to day use like sugar, vegetable oil, textiles, soap, paints, varnishes, lanterns, glycerine, cotton yarn, torches, carbon-di-oxide and flour are produced here.

A temple built in the early nineteenth century by Rani Bala Bai Sindhia is a noticeable character of the village. Other towns Mohan Nagar and Murad Nagar are also quite interesting in their own way.
