Girdwood, originally named "Glacier City". It was named after Colonel James Girdwood, Belfast-born, Scottish and Irish entrepreneur and linen merchant, who pointed to the first four gold claims along Crow Creek in 1896.

Whittier is a city in Alaska in the U.S. state. Located near the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. Whittier is also a port for the Alaska Marine Highway.
